Thanks for all the great info . If you get a new one let me know what

you pick out and how you like it. I think I will probably go with a Palm now

that I have some more info on the Sony. I will spend some time though and

see what else is out there first.

Re: Goal Delema

I had the Sony UX50 and it's a great little pda, but I just don't feel like

it justifies the pricetag.

Pros:

Smallest clam-shell design on the market. Best looking PDA IMO.

The lighted keyboard rocks. Graphitti can be a pain to use if you're in a

hurry and your handwriting isn't EXACTLY right. =)

The graphic quality is excellent and everything just looks so much better.

Plus, it supports hi-res graphics. Woohoo!

Cons:

The screen does not switch from horizontal to vertical, so programs that are

made to fit a normal sized PDA screen just minimize themselves on the ux50

screen.

It has WI-FI, but unless you have a lot of hot spots, that's not worth the

money. I had trouble making it work at different hot spot areas, but there

was probably some box I hadn't checked during setup that screwed it up.

You can't see the screen outdoors in sunlight. That can be really

frustrating.

The camera is only 1/3 megapixel, so that's not that great. It's ok for

little e-mail photos, but your quality is definitely comprised. The NZ-90

has a great 2 megapixel camera, but that unit is much larger than the UX50.

(I had the 90 first, before switching to the UX50. I'm a pda junkie.)

The battery life is OK. I had to remember to put it on the charger every

night or every other night, because if I played a game for 30 minutes, that

really sucked up the battery life.

Overall, just make sure you really need all the functions. It's small

enough to even sit in a side holster without looking too silly, which can be

nice for jotting down your food & points values in WWCalc. Not being able

to see the screen outdoors, plus the low battery life, made me switch over

to a pda/phone- Kyocera 7135 right now, but I might get the newer Samsung

i600 tonight. I'm still debating.

I read reviews from lots of people that slammed the UX50 and some that said

it was the best thing in the world. I always read the reviews and then try

it out for myself. Sometimes I end up agreeing w/ the majority and

sometimes I can't see where they were coming from.

Let me know what you decide. I'm just curious what other fellow techies

prefer. =)
