Guest guest
OK Mitch, now I'll live vicariously through you AND Tory. :-) What are your stats? (if you don't mind me asking?) How much did you lose with Weight Watchers? (I'm assuming you are at goal weight) Were you always athletic? Or is this adult-onset athletics? :-) Inquiring minds want to know. in CO (and is your name REALLY Mitch Javelin? It sounds like the name of a Rescue Ranger!) <grin> Re: RE: So how was your 4th? (Pat from KC) My 4th of July Report: We didn't really have any formal plans this weekend, so I didn't have the BBQ challenges a lot of you all faced. We had our 7/4 celebration on Wednesday night the 30th with the township fireworks - which were great!!!!. I booked out early from work on Friday and did a 20+ mile bicycle ride - 1st time on the bicycle since mid-June, so it felt great. Felt, so great that I got up early Saturday and did another 20+ miles!!!! I was done by 8 AM and we did some errands at the Mall, finishing up with lunch at Subway. In the afternoon, my friend Tom stopped by and we wound up watching the Mets defeat the Yankees (yeah!!!!). Tom and his wife live a couple of towns over and he was in town looking at a house they're considering buying. We're really hopeful that this happens. Saturday night, I BBQ'd up some chicken and some small swiss steaks. Yum!!!! Sunday morning, with a quiet 4th of July upon us, I set out for yet another bike ride. This time, I went just over 21 miles. In the afternoon, we went over to my Mom's condo complex (next town over) and took advantage of her pool, We had lots of fun swimming and frolicking with the kids. I had a steak sandwich (left over steak from last nights BBQ) for lunch and BBQ'd up some Swordfish for dinner, which my wife served with couscous and steamed Broccili and Zucchini. Monday, my wife was having her mother and a few of her mother's friends over for a visit --- so I was able to go do my own thing. Weather was horrible - very hot, humid, heavy air. In the morning, I decided to hit the treadmill. Did 2 minute run/walk intervals for 1 Hour and 20 minutes. In the afternoon, I went off to see " Spiderman 2 " (which I thought was great!) and run some additional errands. I had some left over BBQ chicken for lunch and the Morningstar Farms Veggie Imitation Buffalo Chicken Wings for dinner (boy, were these delicious & point -friendly). My wife keeps a vegetarian style, so we have lots of this sort of stuff in the house. My company is closed all this week. We're forced to use vacation days today-Friday, so I'm taking advantage. I did another 30+ miles on the bicycle this morning. It was beautiful. The weather was terrific - all the humiidity is gone and there was a cooling breeze. I rode down the canal way on into and beyond Princeton. Everything felt " in sync " - I felt so strong on this ride. In the last 5 days, I've cycled 92.1 miles and run/walked another 6 miles. Imagine me doing that pre-WW??? Never. Tomorrow is our last day home for the week - I'm going to get some more cycling in. On Thursday, we leave (along with Tom and his family) for a little family vacation to Lake , NY. Really, looking forward to this. I'm totally psyched and motivated to keep this a healthy, active vacation - plan to do some running and lots of walking - and lots of running after the kids :-).
