You could check online and see if their website has nutritional info. Most

chain restaurants do.

Ideas for Italian Restaurant Anyone?

Hey Y'all,

My parent's just called - they're coming into town tonight and want

to take the whole family out to eat at a nice Italien restaurant.

Does anyone have suggestions? I don't want to have a huge meal -

this is only my second week OP and I want to make sure my meals are

not lopsided (very light all day and heavy at night - that almost

always makes me not be OP the next day). The other thing is that I

really don't want to draw too much attention that I am doing WW

again. My sis and mom have done WW before, and my sis is just WAY

too competitive about it. I would much rather her not know...

I called the restaurant, but they are not open yet, and won't be

until about the time I have to go run and pick up kids. Then it's

time to get them and myself ready and head out the door for dinner -

so I won't be able to find out what they have or how it's made.

Not a chain. A small, family run restaurant.

That's tough. I'd probably go with a dinner salad like a grilled chicken salad

with dressing on the side. Do you think that would be too much of a hint ?

Maybe they will have a grilled chicken or fish meal. Everyone is so health

consious these days that even our local southern barbecue restaurant has grilled

meats now.

You can do it ! If they figure out that your on WW don't let yourself be

intimidated by your sister. Your committment to yourself is more inportant.

You Go Girl !

I was thinking of going with fish or seafood. I called a friend who

had eaten there before. She said they have very nice cuts of meat

(meaning tenderloin, lower in points) and that the servings aren't

very large. Another bonus, they have a nice selection of veggies.

Thanks!!!

How about doing soup and salad instead of the full course meal? Many of the

soups offered in Italian restaurants are broth-based, rather than

cream-based, and can go very nicely on program. Also, if they don't offer a

FF salad dressing, a trick that works nicely is to ask for the dressing (any

flavor you like) on the side, then, instead of pouring it on your salad, dip

your fork in the dressing before you get a biteful of salad. That way, you

get dressing on every bite, but you minimize the amount you actually use.

If you worry that you won't be satisfied with soup and salad, eat your real

meal before you go. After all, the main purpose for dining out is the social

opportunity, isn't it?

Ohhh..Italian. Pasta is my vice...my cig! With so much weight to lose and just

getting started I have had to stay away from those places because I am afraid it

would do me in. My local restaurants are also the small family owned deals and

I am afraid the ingredients would be more than I could spare in a sitting!

I would have some minestrone soup, side salad and a small helping of

spaghetti with plain sauce...no meat.
