has anyone noticed little lumps or maybe calcium deposits on their child's head, down near where the helmet comes on the bottom? i felt andrew's today, they moved all around under his skin in a small area and i got freaked out. i dont know if they are calcium deposits or what they are, but its just an idea i had. anyone familiar with this or know what i am talking about?

They almost sound like lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are bean-shaped and range in size from a few millimeters to about 1-2 cm in their normal state. They can appear as lumps on the neck or scalp and are mobile beneath the skin. My daughter had one behind her ear that took quite some time to become less apparent. It's a good idea to have it checked out by his PCP to rule out any infection but it is a common finding in infants.

hi- i noticed the same thing on madison and i never noticed it before she had the helmet. her peditrician said that they were just lymph nodes, but it is strange that they would appear since she had the helmet. she had an appointment with the neurologist yesterday and i totally forgot to ask him about it. i am so annoyed with myself. let me know what you find out. candice, ny madison 10.5 monthsallykittie79@... wrote: has anyone noticed little

Apparently lymph nodes can become apparent for many reasons. "The localized nodes most often noticed by parents are those around the head and neck. They frequently grow in response either to the mouth organisms that enter the body during teething, or to the tiny particles that get into the scalp from a baby's lying down most of the day, or to respiratory infections of all kinds (ear infections, colds, sinus infections, etc.) -- or, to some combination of these." Maybe it has become apparent since the helmet rubs on different parts of the scalp causing the "tiny particles" that allow the lymph node to become swollen... Just a thought...

The teething part makes sense because is teething in the

worst way. He has been more miserable than I have ever seen him.

Lucky us since we are going out of town this weekend. Poor :

( He doesnt see his ped for another couple weeks, but if there are

any changes from what I've noticed, I'm gonna take him in earlier.

hi - this all makes sense. madi is teething and still has a slight cold. the pedi was not worried at all about the lymph nodes.i probably notice them now because i rub her head so much more since she has gotten the helmet. candice, nyNaomi Barringer <naomibarringer@...> wrote: Apparently lymph nodes can become apparent for many reasons. I think what you are talking about are lymph nodes, right at the

base of the head, near the neck, right? Logan's flared up from the

constant rubbing of the band there, and are just starting to

diminish in size 3 months post-band. They also can be affected by

teething, bug bites, colds, etc.. If you are concerned you should

speak with your pediatrician. Good Luck!
