,

I'm in a similar situation. My primary care provider is sure that

I hav early MS -- the same symptoms keep coming back -- but my MRI

is normal. Having had spinal taps before, I'm not willing to go

that route unless they can promise a definitive result (which they

can't). If I were you, I'd check in with the neurologist again

and have a repeat MRI.

What complicates the issue is that fatigue, slurred speech, and

memory problems can also result from chronic hypothyroidism. Do

you know what your TSH level is?

manner leaves a lot to be desired. He called me on the telephone late at

night while I was at home to tell me that the ultrasound revealed I had

thyroid cancer. I was not pleased getting this news while sitting at home

alone.

I got more than one bad diagnosis by phone while home alone -- but not late

at night!

(diabetes, " you need rotator cuff surgery " (twice!), thyca -- different

doctors, though, and all nice)

(Actually I preferred it that way -- I could do my swearing in private.)

But my question is -- how did he KNOW it was thyca from the ultrasound? US

can show that " something " is there, but not exactly what it is. Too bad,

since US is so much easier than scans, FNA, surgery....

But if you have thyroid " cancer " there is no such thing as benign cancer.

Cancer =

malignancy.

Hi . I can relate to your problem. In 11/03, I started with pain

and numbness in rt. hip and leg. Also in both hands. They got so bad,

I had to go on disability leave from work. Had 4 MRI's - head, C.,T.

and L. Spines. They thought I had Sciatia or MS. Showed only disc

desication in L spine and arthritis in C spine; nothing compressing

in spinal column. After seeing 5 different specialists, I was sent to

a pain mangement docter. He thinks the disc and arthritis are

aggravating nerves outside of the expected area. He's seen an

increase in these types of problems lately. I have double-compression

Carpal Tunnel in both hands from C spine. On 9/3 I go for injection

therapy again and hit both areas of spine and hip. (Last one didn't

work; too narrow of an area). You don't mention pain, but if you are

even uncomfortable, try a pain specialist. Mine said they are used to

working in the dark and can trip over a diagnosis in the process!

Best of luck, hope something helps you soon!

Donna.

nodule - 11/02

FNA - 3/03

thydectomy - 7/03

diag. Thyca - 7/03

RAI & etc. - ??

This begins (?) to sound like a rather odd doctor.
