Guest guest
Pseudoephedrine is not recommended if you have high blood pressure and/or are on bp meds. I think guaifensin is OK. Guest guest
When I was chronic renal insufficiency rather than ESRD, my doctors didn't seem to think Robitussin was a problem when I had a bad cold (it's basically guaifenesin). Pseudoephedrine is also one that nobody seemed to think was a problem, when needed. However, it can raise the blood pressure significantly in some people. Personally, I would ask the pharmacist if it's Ok given your level of kidney function. It's one of those things where you can read all kinds of warnings, but are often prescribed in the real world anyway. Any dextrometorphan in your medication? That one knocked me out completely. It felt like a large dose of morphine. Pierre Question/ Pseudoepherdrine & Guaifenesin > > Anyone know if pseudoephedrine and guaifenesin are o.k. to take? Guest guest
Actually I just got off the phone with the pharmacist. He said to half it due to the fact that I have high b/p. He couldn't find anything regarding a renal dose on the bottle insert. With as loopy as I feel on it after only taking one pill more than 24 hours ago (I'm supposed to do 1 twice a day) I'm thinking I'll wait on taking any more and call the GP in the morning. Amy G. Guest guest
Amy, my concern is you comment of feeling loopy after only 1 pill 24 hrs ago, sometimes a small allergic reaction can cause that feeling of being loopy also. I would definitely call your doc tomorrow and let him know how the med made you feel before I myself would take another one. Please feel better Cathy
