Little thrasher -- sleep problems

Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping a toddler in a boot and bar

covered at night? Gavin is a little thrasher (constantly moving and tossing) in

his crib, and after he throws his cover off (a crib sized comforter -- no

blankets

or sheets) he gets cold and wakes up, or else gets his bar all tangled up and

wakes up. We have him in a Graco Pack 'n Play crib, because of its mesh

sides (which he bounces off of, and can't hurt himself or get stuck in). I

dress

him fairly warmly to go to sleep, but if he's dressed too warmly he gets too

hot.

Has anyone tried any sort of " sleeping bag over bar " trick or something like

that? We're ALL getting pretty sleep deprived around here... Thanks for any

input! (Rita with Gavin, 2 years old)

When Jake was smaller I put him in regular pj's with a blanket sleeper

over the top. When he grew out of it, I just put him in warmer pj's,

sometimes 2 sets if it was chilly (usually a set of thermal pj's with a

heavier set over the top). Jake never got the hang of sleeping with a

blanket until he was a little older and we moved him to his toddler bed

(now he usually keeps the covers on). Hope this helps a little!

I have found that the only thing my son can sleep happily in is the baby

sleep bags. I put his pyjamas on and then you put them in the bag (normally

they have no sleeves) and zip them up. I never use blankets and he has never

been cold and can move about freely without being tucked up. He likes to

sleep on his side with the DBB resting against the cot sides, he would never

be able to do this with sheets etc. Hope this helps.

Rach, Steve and Connor Age 1 DBB 14 hours per day.
