Guest guest
Hi, I'm from the other side of the US (WV) so I cant help you with physicians in your area but I would recommend that you contact Joyce, Dr. Ponseti's secretary, and ask her for a recommendation. Many doctors claim to use the " Ponseti method " but are NOT qualified by Dr. Ponseti himself and that is so important, we found out the hard way. If there is any way you could travel to Iowa Dr. Ponseti is truly amazing!! We were very fortunate to have insurance that would cover out of state and were able to travel 15 hours for his treatment. Katelyn is doing great, she started walking at 11 months and is now 13 months and running! Her foot looks " normal " as Dr. Ponseti puts it. You can tell a few little differences from her other non-clubfoot but it is functioning well with great range of motion. I was wondering how your husband is doing, I know you said he was able to play college basketball which is GREAT encouragement for me. I'm so worried that she will have pain later on or lose flexibility. Anytime I get to talk to an adult who has had clubfoot I am interested to know how they are doing. Do you mind my asking what type of treatment your husband had? I'm just so worried for her, not so much now but later on. Dr. Ponseti says that her calf won't be fully developed and that her clubfoot will be 1/2 size smaller but otherwise he keeps saying her foot is " normal " . I guess I should take his word for it, he's been doing this for 60+ years!! Well good luck and congratulations on your new baby boy, enjoy every second, they grow up way to fast! New here-Ponseit Doctor recommendation?? Hello everyone, My husband and I had our 20 week ultrasound recently and discovered that our son will be born with bilateral clubfoot. This was not wholly unexpected as my husband was born with the same. We are not especially worried about it. We are just grateful that this is the only condition we will have to deal with, there are so many worse things out there. Also my husband went on to play many different sports including college basketball (in addition to growing to 6 foot six inches in height!) so as I said we feel like everything is going to be fine. I am a bit paranoid about making sure our son gets the right treatment right off the bat. The Ponseti website does not list any doctors for Orange County, California, where we live. I was hoping to solicit any recommendations for doctors in this area, with whom you have had happy experiences and/or you know to be trained in the Ponseti method? I have emailed Dr. Ponseti as well. Thank you in advance. I look forward to getting to know you all better.
Guest guest
Congrats on your son to be and welcome to our board. We live in Southern California too in an area called Temecula, just north of San Diego. We started off with Dr. Mubarak in San Diego, but now see Dr. Colburn in Pleasanton (Bay Area). Dr. Mubarak was making changes to the Ponseti Method at the time two years ago and I wasn't pleased with his modifications, so we chose to drive farther north to Dr. Colburn who was recommended by Charity on this board. He is worth the drive and we don't regret making the change. Let me know if you have any more questions. There is another couple on this board in Santa that drive to Pleasanton to have their daughter treated by Dr. Colburn as well. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: New here-Ponseit Doctor recommendation?? >Date: Sun, 28 Mar 2004 19:02:48 -0000 > >Hello everyone, > >My husband and I had our 20 week ultrasound recently and discovered >that our son will be born with bilateral clubfoot.
