Guest guest
My daughter is now 14.5 months old. She wore a helmet from when she was 6 months until she turned 1 year old. Once she turned 1, we were told to stop wearing the helmet because it would not help anymore and she still had a 5mm asymmetry. We just went back today for her follow up and she is still at a 5mm asymmetry. Our orthodic said there was nothing else for us to do but wait and see and to come back in 6 months. But her asymmetry is really bothering me so I made an appointment with Cranial Tech for a DOCband but the closest location is 5 hours away. Is it worth it? Should I take her there? Are DOCbands really better than any other cranial molding helmet? Thanks, Elaine
Guest guest
Thanks for you reply Becky. I will certainly keep that in mind and I am going to keep as active as I can. From: Becky <beckybugkins@...> Subject: Is It Worth It? Scoliosis Treatment Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2009, 8:51 AM This is my opinion....I don't know how much pain you are in. If I were 62 with a 29 degree curve I woould not have surgery. It is such a big surgery and I had pain after mine and still do 28 years after the surgery. I also have Stenosis below the rods from the surgery. I am 50. I would keep as active as possible, swim, stay at your recommended weight level, use the gel and not have the surgery. It is up to you. I just would not do it. If they could promise pain relief that would be different. I don't think they can.
