Guest guest
Hi Ruth, When you say the buckle/straps.. Do you mean 's sandals? I've used the suede sandals for 2 months and they do tend to stretch but they are so much more comfortable than the Markell shoes. When we meet with and dr. Ponseti in April, I think we'll bring this issue up about the straps stretching and having to go to the next hole. The problem is sometime it's between the holes which requires you to poke another hole. Baby Ian never slipped out of the sandals at all versus all the time when he was wearing the Markell boots. Hope this helps. Lizzy > Hi everyone. > > I was putting on Ben's shoes the other night, and one of his straps > snapped! Guest guest
I haven't had that problem yet, but I did notice that after a while, the area where I put the poke through the trap got really worn and the hole is elongated. Maybe it's the batch of leather? I don't remember that happening with either her first pair (old style) or the first pair of the new models she had which were prototypes. The pair she's got right now came off the assembly line and the strap is really short although Jay said he was going to take care of that problem and get a new die to cut the strap with. Also, I'd wondered when we first got our first pair of shoes why they'd make a really nice leather shoe and then put vinyl on the underside of the strap. Seemed cheap to me (hate vinyl - yuck!) but apparently it's important because the leather stretches so much, and the strap is the most worked part of the boot. Makes sense. That's probably why the new strap seems to stretch so much, they just made it out of leather right? I'd contact Markell about the strap snapping - especially since the new one stretches and his foot slips. That's not cool that it broke - these shoes aren't worn that long in the first place - the strap should last. email at info@... I think... if that's not right you can click on *contact us* on their website and it goes right to that addy. Kori Mama of Kenton - 6/98 Merek - 3/00 Darbi - 3/28 - Rt. Guest guest
Hi Lizzy No its the Markell boots that I have. I think the problem is that the old strap had a vinyl coating on the bottom to prevent the stretching, and my new replacement strap doesn't. Leather by its very nature is stretchy, and when Ben wiggles or strains against the strap it just gets a bit longer. Hopefully it will reach some kind of maximum length soon. -Ruth > > Hi everyone. > > > > I was putting on Ben's shoes the other night, and one of his straps > > snapped! Guest guest
Hi Kori Thanks for your reply, and I think you are right. Without that little piece of vinyl on the back of the strap it just stretches and stretches. About Markell...I know that Jay sometimes watches this message board so perhaps if he is out there he could contact me. Otherwise I will contact him directly in a few days. This may be a problem that they want to look at so it doesn't happen again. That strap is the most critical part of the shoe, perhaps they need to make it out of a heavier leather or put a good vinyl coating on the top and the bottom. I am hoping that the replacement strap will reach some kind of maximum length soon, as it is I move his buckle up a notch when he gets up in the morning and it is a little loose again when his brace comes off later in the morning. Guest guest
Hi Ruth- I haven't had that problem but you should be able to take it into any shoe cobbler and have them sew it back on. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Broken Markell Shoe!! >Date: Wed, 24 Mar 2004 14:19:11 -0000 > >Hi everyone. > >I was putting on Ben's shoes the other night, and one of his straps >snapped! Guest guest
Hi Unfortunately it snapped halfway down. In the hole I use. So sewing it back on was not an option. Mr. Markell has offered to send me some replacement straps though. -Ruth > Hi Ruth- > > I haven't had that problem but you should be able to take it into any shoe > cobbler and have them sew it back on. > > > > > >From: " Ruth " > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot > >To: nosurgery4clubfoot > >Subject: Broken Markell Shoe!! > >Date: Wed, 24 Mar 2004 14:19:11 -0000 > > > >Hi everyone. > > > >I was putting on Ben's shoes the other night, and one of his straps > >snapped!
