Guest guest
Hello everyone, Wanted to introduce ourselves and get some feedback. Our daugther is 11 months old and has had a helmet for about a month. We've had numerous problems with the fit - first sliding into her eyes, then leaving red marks for several hours, then sliding into her ayes again, now she is able to remove it by sliding it off her head. After about 7 adjustments, and month into the process, we still don't have a helmet that's working. We are not happy with the place we were referred to for the helmet, and depending on what feedback we get from the craniofacial clinic tomorrow, we are thinking about switching to a different orthotics company, particularly if the clinic says she needs a new helmet. Not sure if anyone lives in the Los Angeles area, but would appreciate hearing any experiences (good or bad) you've had with any of the following places, or if you have some place that you would recommend. Cranial Therapies in North Hollywood Hanger Prosthetics in Encino (also office in North Hollywood) Ortho Engineering in Van Nuys Thanks for any suggestions/recommendations you might have. Guest guest
Where are you going right now? We used Hanger in Northridge (moved to Encino) Rayn is a sweetheart who really cares about the kids... I'm not sure who the ortho is now... just remember that the experience of the ortho is the KEY to getting the best correction. Hanger (and other providers) also provide other orthotic devices so the expertise is more spread out for an ortho at these places - they treat less babies heads than say adult foot or back issues. C only treats babies so the exprience there is 100% banding. CT in Pasadena would be a good option. Guest guest
Cranial Therapies is closed and now there is a Cranial Tech office in Pasedena (check www.cranialtech.com).They have a great reputation. If you have to go for a new band I would try them. There are some LA moms her too so hopefully they'll chime in. It definitely sounds like you need a new band - either from your existing provider, or preferably a new one. Good luck & let us know what happens. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hello everyone, > > Wanted to introduce ourselves and get some feedback. Guest guest
Hi, That's strange - the message I posted a few weeks ago seems to have gotten re-posted. Nonetheless, we appreciate everyone's recommendations. Just to update everyone - we ended up going to Hanger in Encino, and we were fortunately able to get a new helmet covered by the insurance company. The orthotist there, , is terrific. Our daughter's had the helmet for about a week now and it fits great. Haven't even had to take it in for an adjustment.
