Hi -

We have a 6 month old son who has had the casts and achilles

lenghtening surgery, and now we're on to the Dennis Brown brace.

Unilateral club foot, right foot.

Question: are there any tips for getting used to the 2 shoes and

metal rod with the Dennis Brown setup? Naturally little is

pretty unhappy with his new found immobility. Also, how long of an

adjustment should we expect before he is happy with his braces?

Many thanks for your help!

Hi Chris-

Welcome to our board. The most important thing you can teach your son is how

to move his legs with the brace on. This will help him to feel less

frustrated. As he sits on your lap bring his feed in and out several times

by grabbing the middle of the bar. Say " in " and " out " as you move his feet

back and forth. He'll pick it up in no time.
