Guest guest
, I just wanted to say that I am very sorry for what you are going through. You certainly are a victim of neglectful care. I don't blame you for being screaming mad at that on-call ob/gyn. I too believe that this is a sue happy nation we live in and there should be limits or caps. That being said there certainly are times where neglect needs to be addressed. I don't know of any other way to make sure that a Dr. is reprimanded other than to sue them though. You are also correct in the fact that Doctor's and Hospital's do screw up...of course...they are humans and errors WILL BE made. Like you said, it is up to us to be on top of everything (questions, research, etc.). We absolutely have to take an active part in our own health care. Long gone is the age where you took what the Dr. said to be gospel and made him a God. With respect to the Lupron, it does effect everyone differently, and although the package does state that it can take up to 10 days to feel the effects, no-one can tell you that at 3 days you are feeling nothing, because it can effect everyone differently. Whether the Lupron or your own body on its own has stopped the bleeding...the important thing for now is that it has stopped. We should all support you in whatever your decision is...as you said this is YOUR PERSONAL decision and in reviewing the Home page of this group it states the following: The Uterine Fibroids eGroup is sponsored by the National Uterine Fibroids Foundation and is an email and web based discussion group for individuals interested in researching and discussing all methods of alternative treatments for uterine fibroids. This group encourages both positive and negative feedback on all methods of treatment ranging from hysterectomy, myomectomy, uterine artery embolization (UAE -- also known as uterine fibroid embolization or UFE), myolyis, endometrial ablation, mifepristone (RU-486), female reconstructive surgery (FRS or FAS), hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and any other treatment option that a woman may be considering or have already undergone in an effort to treat her uterine fibroids. This email list group also supports and encourages discussion of other fibroids- related topics, such as emotional issues, financial issues, sexuality, age, ethnicity, symptoms, treatments, etc. The second sentence being key here....The group ENCOURAGES both Positive and Negative feedback on ALL methods of treatment. This list does include HYSTERECTOMY and it seems that many times most of us are not sensitive to the fact that some woman choose this option and they choose this option eyes wide open with all of the facts. It seems to me that many times this group has NOT been ENCOURAGING of Positive and Negative feedback on the topic of hysterectomy. It seems sad to me that you () had to go to the extreme to actually DEFEND your reasons for possibly not wanting children. I feel that it is sad that anyone in this forum would have to go onto that type of defensive. I hope everything works out for you whatever choice you make.
