Guest guest
Hello everyone, My wife and I are new to this message board. My wife is currently 21 weeks pregnant with our first child, a baby girl. During her 18 week ultrasound (and a subsequant Level II ultrasound) it was confirmed that our child would be born with bilateral clubfoot. Not knowing what this was, it came as quite a shock. However, with the research we have done and through message boards like this one, we have come to understand how treatable this will be. My only concern at this point is what physician we will trust with our little girl. I spoke with Dr. Ponseti to get his opinion. First, let me just say, no one on this board is exaggerating just how kind and helpful this man truly is. He is a wonderful person and a tribute to his profession. His staff is equally as impressive. Dr. Ponseti recommended Dr. Scher from the Hospital of Joint Disease in New York. Has anyone else visited Dr. Scher? If so, I would appreciate if you could share your thoughts with us. The closest Ponseti-approved physician to me is Dr. Mack in Springfield, Mass, however, he is not on our insurance plan. Nonetheless, has anyone dealt with Dr. Mack? BTW, we had an amnio done after learning of the clubfoot. Everything on the amnio checked out fine, " chromosomally perfect " , as they said. Of course, we still have to check for other physical defects; we have a heart ultrasound scheduled in two weeks. We have faith that the clubfoot will be the only challenge we will have to face. Any information you can share with us would be appreciated. Sara and

Guest guest
Sara and , I am not sure where you are located, but for my son, we have used, and are still using, Dr. Trepeta. He is affiliated with North Shore University Hospital. While, I am not sure whether he is approved of by Dr. Ponsetti, Dr. Trepeta does use the Ponsetti methods in treating clubfoot. Your story is similiar to what my wife and I experienced, and Dr. Trepeta has literally treated my son since Day one of his life. My son, too, was born with bilateral clubfeet. If you would like more info, feel free to email either at bfk316@..., or bfk316@... Good Luck, Barry Father of Elliott, age 2 Bilateral Clubfeet
