Hello to all,

It has been awhile since my last post but we have been busy with our

trip to Brisbane for Sam's operation. Sam was born with Bilateral

Clubfeet. His left foot corrected itself with plastering

unfortunatley his right foot did not. He had his first operation at 3

months and has had his second at 3 1/2 years. The surgeon conducted a

procedure called a SPLATT( I believe the equivalent in America is a

ATTT)

We are unsure of it is a sucess as yet, due to him still being in

plaster 6 weeks in total. The Dr was really happy and we can see a

change in that the toes on his right foot are now straight. The

plaster is due off on the 17 Mar 04 and we are definatley excited.

I am amazed at Sam's resilience and lack of complaint. We live in a

very humid city and he has not once complained.

I have only one wish now that this is the end and that there will be

no reoccurence. We will have to wait an see.

Hi Rheana,

Sorry to hear that Sam needed these surgeries. Our daughter Emma had the

ATTT in November and is doing very well now. Does your doctor practice the

Ponseti method? Do you know something about the general acceptance of the

method in Australia or just in your area?

good luck to you & keep us posted,

-

Emma, 18-10-99

moderately severe bilateral clubfoot

3 months unsuccessful local casting pending surgery

corrected by Dr. Ponseti with 3 casts & tenotomy

out of FAB too early, just before 2 yrs old (loose ligaments)

relapse, ATTT at 4 years old, doing great.
