Arlene, I was born and raised in San . My sister is still there as is my

nephew and his family. My mother passed away last year, but my sister, brother

(he is in Dallas), and I vowed to get-together each year around the time we lost

her. This year we head back to San next month for the 1st anniversary of

her passing.

Wow! You do sound like the perfect Texan!! You make me look bad! :)

Arlene, I have to share something about being from Texas. My husband has his

Ph.D. from Rice; we met when I was a senior at UH. In order to get ahead in

academia, one moves. We began in New Orleans, then Kansas State, next Virginia

Tech and last Miami of Ohio. Burt was head of the history department at Virginia

Tech. One of the professors there asked me why I was so short seeing as how I

was from Texas! This professor always had a comeback, no matter what, but this

time he was speechless. I looked him straight in the eye and told him that we

Texans SHRINK to fit in little states!! :) My husband is a Bostonian...do you

know how hard it is to get THAT small to fit in Massachusetts????

Good luck with your adventures in Longview!

Hi Diane,

Welcome.

Where you from in Texas? I live in Longview,

have worn boots, own a gun, don't have an oil well but am in the process

of having a gas well drilled in the back pasture. Right now we have a

pit about 3 acres big with lots of big equipment and trucks ruining

grass. The rig is in the pasture behind us all lit up and we'll get it

in about 20 days after they get thru where they are.

I am on walker, w/c outside and when working inside, gibberish speech.

The powerchair has been great.

Stay with us, we need ya!

Arlene
