Could someone tell me what airport is closest to the hospital so I can start doing some research to see if we can attend? Thanks so much for any help you could offer. Even if you have hotel tips I would appreciate it, I'm just trying to figure out cost, that will most likely be the final factor which will allow us to go. I checked it out it would be about $230.00 per round trip ticket for us to travel from Philadelphia to their, and the hotels I checked out seemed to average $85 per night. Car rental would be about $27 per day with a car seat rental. I'm not even sure we would need a car rental though, I don't know the area to know if everything is in walking distance. I'll have to think about it a bit more, I really want to meet everyone and celebrate Dr. Ponseti's birthday, but it will easily be a $1200.00 trip. We got a shuttle from Cedar Rapids to the Sheraton for $60 round trip (that was the total for 2 adults and a baby). We did not need a rental car because everything was within walking distance to the Sheraton. We did need a stroller to get to Dr. Ponseti's office. It was about 1 mile (15 - 20 minute easy walk). The Sheraton had a hospital rate of $69/night. It was very nice and they have an indoor pool and a large playground. There is also a public library next door with a children's section. We are going to look at reserving blocks of rooms once we get a better idea of how many people are planning to come. Hope that helps. The closest would be the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, IA which is about 25 miles north of Iowa City. The Quad Cities Airport in Moline, IL is about 60 miles east of Iowa City and will quite often be cheaper than Cedar Rapids.
