IOWA Family Gathering / Dr. Ponseti's 90th B-Day Celebration, June 5th

Hello everyone,

A party is in the works!! There will be a family gathering / 90th Birthday

Celebration in IOWA on Saturday, June 5th at the University of IOWA

Hospital. There are a few people already helping plan this event, but we

will definitely need more help eventually. As you will see in a couple

earlier posts we are trying to get an idea of how many people are interested

in coming to IOWA for this event. We are hoping to get people from all over

to honor Dr. Ponseti on this very special occasion. The date is set but the

final details aren't, basically we need to figure out how many people are

willing to come!! Please go to the polls and give us your input.

I am also planning a special birthday gift that everyone can participate in.

I will need volunteers to eventually help make the final product. On behalf

of Precious Little Feet I will be organizing a quilt made of your children's

footprints. The center of the quilt will say Papa Ponseti's Precious Little

Feet with a picture of Dr. Ponseti! The rest of the quilt will be footprints

of all of our children treated by Dr. Ponseti and his colleagues. For those

of you how would like to participate in this project please also respond to

the polls. I will post more details later including how and when to get me

your child's footprints, etc..

What a wonderful opportunity to be able to meet everyone! I'd love

to come but at this point I'm a 'maybe'. I've already answered the

first poll - it would probably only be Owen and myself as I would be

able to swing a roundtrip ticket for myself (Owen still flys for

free!). Would anyone be interested in sharing accomodations/car

rentals (if needed) in order to cut down on costs?

I'm also a very keen maybe - still working out logistics for travelling

from South Africa. Unfortunately my husband Steve can't come, because

he's working on a big broadcasting contract till July. Other problem is

that it's Steve's birthday on 5th June! If I manage to work it out,

I'll travel alone with . If only I'd thought about this

earlier, because we're already coming to the US late April to see my

sister in SE Florida. I'd have postponed it and done it all in one

trip, but we made those arrangements in Dec last year already.

Anyway, I'm trying hard to get there for the big occasion, in which case

I'd also be interested in sharing some kind of accommodation and hire

car, etc.
