Thank you for your support, . :) Seth (my hubby) and I were

talking about Jake's foot and the upcoming dr appt, and we were curious

if simple PT would be enough to correct the relapse? Like I'd posted

before, we've been trying to do stretching exercises on Jake's foot, but

he hates it...he writhes around on the floor and makes it really tough

to do! We're thinking that maybe a PT would have some ideas on how to

get him to be more cooperative.

Anyhow...his foot is starting to turn in some, but it's not way off,

kwim? Maybe PT would be enough...

Thanks again ,

Hi Kassia,

Sorry to hear about Jake's relapse. It happened to us as well. Emma

relapsed because we did not keep the FAB on long enough. She was diagnosed

by Dr. P as having loose ligaments and for fear of remaining over-corrected

she came out of the FAB just before 2 years old. She had the ATT surgery

when she was 4 (Nov. 2003) and is doing very well now. For Jake you will

just have to wait for his appointment to see if he needs surgery, if you can

get away with casts, or if you just leave it and see. We went to Iowa

expecting to fix Emma's feet with casting but Dr. P and Dr. Morcuende felt

that it wouldn't help enough, and that it would be very difficult to get her

to comply once again with the FAB. You can check our previous posts for

more info.

good luck with your app't- you are in very good hands with Dr Dietz (he

actually performed Emma's tenotomy when we were first there over 4 years

ago).

- & Emma

18-10-99

moderately severe bilateral clubfoot

3 months unsuccessful local casting pending surgery

corrected by Dr. Ponseti with 3 casts & tenotomy

out of FAB too early, just before 2 yrs old (loose ligaments)

relapse, ATTT at 4 years old, doing great.

Great, Bethany, I'm glad to hear it. I've never worked with any of the

dr's at the U so I don't know who's good and who isn't (we live in Cedar

Rapids and have our medical care at Mercy Medical Center, where I work).

Thanks,

Kassia
