I do hope that we can get together sometime in the near future. I would be curious to know what information you received about breast reconstruction in Kansas. Please feel free to share. I have a second opinion appointment on January 13 with Dr. Poggi here in Wichita. He comes highly recommended by my niece and several others I know of. Preferred of Kansas is the pits to deal with. I had that insurance when I worked for Hospice Care of Kansas. They are not a very good insurance company. I got Ambesol tonight to saturate my left breast with. I am going to tell them that I need to go to the bathroom (which probably won't be a lie) and saturate it. The nice thing that my husband bought if for me. I fully intend to ask for any and all pain meds. I am feeling really weak (emotionally) right now even though I am trying to be positive. I'll let you know what we find out and how surgery goes sometime this week. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I will be thinking of you as you consider reconstruction. I saw a breast reconstruction specialist in KC on Monday. Much to think about. It's been 18mo since my mastectomy. My options are few. Dealing with the insurance company and their games. (preferred plus of kansas) They don't want to pay for a surgery that isn't done in wichita. GRRRR! Make sure you demand pain meds, regardless of where you go. Don't try and be a tough girl. They have no idea what it feels like. Just tell them they will make you as comfortable as possible ok? jkoelsch1950 wrote: Well, Monday is D Day for me-the mastectomy. I will be so glad to get this over. The waiting seems to be interminable. It looks like reconstruction is going to be postponed until I can get a second opinion. The information on the SNB has been extremely helpful. I will be going for a pre-admission meeting at the hospital tomorrow. I will definitely address my concerns about the pain issue on the injection of the SN. This cancer thing certainly puts a new perspective on the holidays for me. I appreciate all your prayers especially on Monday at 12:30 or so Central Standard Time. Thanks to all you lovely Steele Magnolias for your care and concern and support.
