Guest guest
Okay as you know, if you read my silly little posts, I've really struggled with the swimming. My first triathlon is Sunday and I am completely nervous. Anyhow, this morning I went for my last " official " swim (although I'll take a few laps Saturday night in the lake we're swimming in Sunday just to feel confident). I've been doing " gratitude swims. " I know it sounds corny, but it was an idea that I got from a friend of mine. She said that the week before Thanksgiving she always thinks of one thing she is grateful for on each length of her swim. So I've been doing that. I pray for someone or am thankful for someone or something on each length. I swam 50 lengths without stopping. It was slow because I'm a slow swimmer, but it was over two times the length I have to do on Sunday which makes me feel really good about that. I could have kept going but I stopped at 50. Of course after I got out of the pool and sat in the hot tub I realized two more lengths would have given me 3/4 of a mile, but that will be my goal for Tuesday. Why 50? Because when I hit my goal (35) I still had things to be thankful for. My next goal was 45, and I thought of more things to be thankful for. I know, I'm a dork but it was awesome. ~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~' Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator www.teechur.com www.msteechur.com -The successful person will do the things that the unsuccessful person will not.
