A friend of mine downloaded WWcalc 'way back when before WW legal dept

shut down the websites. I'd love to know how the WW online one

compares also.

I had WWCalc up until I installed this new program. They are the same

concept, but for me this new WW PDA program is much better. I use WW

Online, so all of my favorites are saved on there. The PDA program

downloads those favorites and also keeps the last two weeks of

journals in the program (they're on the website for...I don't know

how long, but my February entries are still there).

I love WW Online--it's how I journal and I journal EVERY DAY without

fail. I'm also a PDA lover, so for me this was a natural partnership.

My take on this: if you do WW Online and have a PDA, pay the extra $5

a month for the PDA program. If you don't do WW Online, this might

not be worth it to you. WWCalc is functional and certainly useful in

a pinch; you're probably fine sticking with it.

Not including synching your online journal w/ your PDA, what other

things does the new WW PDA program do that WWCalc doesn't do? The cache

on WWCalc saves all of the foods that I've previously journaled, has all

of my restaurants and convenience foods and has journal info. back to

2001. I'm just wondering what the WW PDA program offers other than

synching to your online journal. From what I've seen, it looks like a

much " prettier " interface, etc. Any information would be much

appreciated. Thanks!

Of course...they are a business you know.

The deal with this one is, it syncs up to your online account. That

means if I journal online for the day and then sync with my PDA

everything I've journaled goes into my PDA. Then if I go out and

journal some food on the PDA and sync it to my computer, it syncs up

to my account. So when I'm on vacation I can do all my journaling on

my Palm, come home and sync it, and I have an online record of my

vacation. It's set up to work with either Flex or Core and looks very

much like the online tracker.

It's worth $5 a month. This is a value added bonus. There are servers

to maintain, programming that was done (and continues to be done),

extra bandwidth, etc. It makes sense that they would charge an extra

fee for the service.

I mean they could start giving it all away for free and then go

bankrupt and we'd have no more Weight Watchers. We could do it all on

our own.

I've used both. The nice thing about the WW version, is that it

uploads/downloads to keep both records current. In other words, if you

are an online member of weight watchers, and you use the web to journal,

you are able to journal on your palm, with current point lists, and it

will synch with WW online.

WWCalc has some nice interfaces, including a weight tracker that I like

a little better than WW online. The WW online PDA program requires a

lot of memory. And not the kind on an expansion card. So, if anyone is

planning to purchase a Palm, don't go less than 8 MB of RAM, but

preferably 16 MB, unless you don't plan to use your palm for anything

else (that is just my advice, which means you should investigate and

learn for yourself...).

They both have plusses and minus's. If you aren't enrolled in WW

online, don't do it to get the program, stick with WWCalc.

Re: New WW for PDA!

Anybody who's used WWCalc used this new WW PDA program? How do they

compare?

Does the WW At-Home and On-line program charge a fee like E-tools does? If so,

I'm wondering why they gave the program to the E-toolers for free, but are

charging for the At-Home people. Granted, since I'm already paying for meetings

(since I'm 10lbs. over my lifetime WW goal) and I would have to pay $10 extra a

month for e-tools if I chose to use it, it seems like it would be a little

excessive to throw a third charge in there. Maybe I just answered my own

question. =)

175/147.8/130(personal goal)
