Guest guest
My son had tort and military crawled for about 3 months (7-10m) and never had a preference of dragging one leg. He did take quite a while to walk however, and when he started last month (at 16 months), he had what I call, a " hitch " in his step. He would lead with his right leg and then swing his left leg around to meet it. I was worried about the tort being a problem because I have read that it can be linked to hip displatia which also runs in our family. So I took him to the ped and he checked his tort again and all was fine, and checked his hips again and all was fine, and declared that my son just needed to build up some muscle strength in his legs. He's gotten a lot better over the last month, I don't notice the hitch as much. So I wouldn't say it's a given that the tort is causing the dragged leg, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to get it checked out if it's bothering you. Good luck! Guest guest
I'm not sure if this is from tort, but I would check with the ortho. My daughter was pretty symmetric when crawling, both on her belly (military) and later when she got up on all fours. She didn't have tort. But I know there is a lot of variety in how kids figure things out. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > My son (10 mos) has left tort and is 2 1/2 months in his helmet.
