Guest guest
Hi Everyone- I am 32 weeks along in my pregnancy - I go for my check up tomorrow...but three weeks ago I had successfully gained 28 lbs. GASP! I was then told I would most likely continue to gain apprx. 1 lb per week until delivery. I almost passed out. That will be a total of about 40 pounds. I can't believe it. I'm so scared that I have stretched my pouch and that I won't be able to get this weight off. Another thing - I am 2 years post-op. I had my surgery in August of 2001. I have not put a carbonated beverage to my lips in over two years and honestly have not missed it...lately though..it is ALL I crave. The cravings are so bad I've dreamed about them. I finally succumbed and took little baby sips but I feel like a failure now! I'm so worried about what my pregnancy is doing to my body long-term. Does anyone else have carbonation cravings? Guest guest
Penny, I too have carbonation cravings. My surgeon said he didn't have a problem with one pop a day as long as patients were past 6 months out. I treat myself to a tangerine diet rite. Guest guest
I'm 14 weeks along and I started having the carbonation cravings a few weeks ago. I tried 7-Up and it hurt my pouch so badly, then I kept craving it still, so I tried some Coke and that didn't hurt at all. I have stopped though because it was scaring me so it's just something we have to battle. Unfortunately something else to add to the list. I wouldn't beat yourself up for trying it just don't do it anymore if you can help it. Guest guest
I've been craving diet coke for the last few weeks - I am 35 weeks. I have gained 24lbs as of this morning...are you sure that part of your weight gain isn't water? I know I had a couple weeks go by where I lost weight because I was holding on to all the water I could drink. Good luck! Rene edd 12/1/03 post op 11/30/2000 lost 192lbs! Guest guest
I think the tolerance of soda is an individual issue. My surgeon allows it while others in my area forbid it. I was a complete diet coke freak before surgery but when I tasted it after surgery it tasted like battery acid to me for the first 6-9 months. I'm 16 months postop (2 months pregnant) and now it doesn't bother me. I still don't crave it like I did preop and probably sip on one diet soda every week or two. If you can tolerate it and it is diet, I wouldn't beat yourself up over an occasional soda.
