Hi there,

My toddler daughter was up in the night with fever and sore throat. Since we

have recently been exposed to a family with multiple cases of strep, I am

thinking I will probably have to take her to the doctor.

We have been on the SCD since the end of January 2009. My daughter is gluten

sensitive/celiac and had a probably yeast overgrowth since October of 2008. I

just hate the thought of antibiotics!

Are there some antibiotics that are easier on the gut than others? I found a

list on pecanbread related to clostridium difficile. Is this THE recommended

list?

Clostridium Difficile - Safe and Unsafe Antibiotics

Belinda sends this in from a website on Clostridium Difficile:

Safe and Unsafe Antibiotics:

LIKELY TO CAUSE C. DIFFICILE:

Clindamycin

Keflex

Ceftin

Ceclor

All other cephalosporins

Amoxicillin

Augmentin

MIDDLE OF THE ROAD:

Cipro

Levoflex (also Levaquin)

Tequin

Avelox

Bactrim

Erythromycin

Biaxin

Zithromax

SAFE TO TAKE:

Macrodantin (Macrobid)

Sulfa

Aminoglycoside

Flagyl (metronidiazole)

Oral and IV Vancomycin

From the LI listserve

Also what about the sugars and other junk that is in antibiotics? I've seen

info. about compounding meds but don't know if that is available at my local

pharmacy.

I need a reply today, if possible.

Thanks,
