Driving and hypo

Just a little anecdote here...

Back in the " old days " doctors did not tell us not to drive. I drove

for all 10 weeks that I was off meds. Today, I shudder to think of the

danger I put myself and my children in. During the 10th and final

week of my hypo I had to meet my husband and a friend at a restaurant.

As I set out to drive there a major thunderstorm broke out,at least I

thought it was major. It was a terrifying drive for me. So bad that I

vividly remember it to this day. Taking all the hypo symptoms into

consideration it was probably the worst set of circumstances I could

have been in (other than being HYPO!)

When I told my husband what a terrible drive it had been he sorts

shrugged his shoulders and said, " Gail, it was a 5 minute cloud

burst! " Five minutes my eye....it seemed like it went on for hours.

That's what hypo does to you behind a wheel.
