Goria/Elisabeth,

I hear ya...I grew up outside of NYC and now live in Washington State....I'm

used to shopping boutiques, theaters, friends popping in and out and a very

active social scene....It's very dead here...summer, winter, spring and fall!

It's pretty but definately dead as a doornail! Hang in there, Rita

and busier without too much success.

Hahahaha! I hear you, Gloria. I am also here in Portland, Maine and it's the

biggest city in the state and almost dead as a doornail in the winter. Life in

this state is not for everyone. My husband is from here, but I had a hard time

of it at first. I grew up in lots of big cities all over the world.

Hang in there, spring is coming!!! :)

Re: sleepiness from 'sartan drugs:Bonnie OT

Hi Bonnie,

Right now i'm living in Boothbay, Maine; sort of a resort area but

not in the winter! We have been here only a year and moved from the

Boston suburbs to be near our daughter since my husband would need

help with my care if I didn't get better. Now I am doing very well

and I miss being near shopping, theatre and my long time friends and

sisters. I'm trying to convince my husband to move somewhere warmer

and busier without too much success.

The Benicar seems to be working but it's hard to tell in three days.

My blood pressure is staying a little more elevated at 134/76 or 72

but steadier. I do feel less groggy and now hope to get back to my

workout which should also help the BP. Thanks so much for asking.

For those folks who have been asking about life expectancy, I plan to

put my story on the files. I am now almost 75 and I first had

symptoms when I was 30 and very healthy for 40 years after. I feel

that I have beaten the latest bout having recovered from 4-1/2 months

in hospital from a (they think) a bacterial infection that sent my

immune system into chaos. I had everything from aveolar hemmorhage

to perforated colon (twice) and eventually IgaN diagnosis. I was

completely paralyzed when I woke from a long coma and needed

extensive PT to walk again. My voice has not completely returned due

to multiple and prolonged intubation. There...I finally had the

courage to get it out. Sorry for the long reply and thanks for

listening.

I hope that your recovery is as successful as mine.
