Guest guest Posted September 12, 2003 Report Share Posted September 12, 2003 Most babies of women don't need NARCAN/naloxone.In patients who get drugs guring labor and near delivery it can be given rather safely. We don't use it for babies of Mom's using narcotics (long term use- addiction) because it can cause seizures in the baby. The last baby I saw get it also developed pulmonary edema a heart arrythmia so it isn't a benign medication.
