Has anyone been successful with appealing cigna? My husband has a

friend at work that has Cigna and they just got a denial with for the

preauthorization. They are going through and putting thier son in a

DOC band, but want to fit Cigna and try and get a reimbursement. Any

suggestions or comments would be helpful :)

, I will also be dealing with Cigna, do you think you could post your letter in the files section? Also, how did they determine that his head shape was from in-utero? My son has had the odd head shape since he was born, but we thought that was from the birth. He also has tort, so I think that just made it worse. We have been doing therapy for the tort and repositioning for about a month, and his measurements actually got worse! We are going to CT on Monday for a consultation, but will be switching from BCBS to Cigna in the New Year. Lorie Mom to Spencer DOC band [sPAM]RE: Cigna Insurance Question Hi Lori. My son was treated many years ago (2000) -- so I don't know if Cigna has exclusions written into their policies now. If they do, it will be more difficult to fight. However, they did initially deny us, and I did write an appeal and won in full. They denied us on three things (this is directly from their letter (spelling and all) )"....The request has been

denied due to lack of conservative measures like Postural Therapies, and the abcense of Craniostosis or any other Neurological abnormalities. This is considered cosmetic and as such is not a covered benefit. " I would be happy to share o ur appeal with you, though it deals with a head-shape that happened in-utero, so part of my emphasis was that it was congential in nature. I actually crafted my letter from several different letters on this site, along with our specific informaiton and quotes from articles..DOCband was "out of network" for us, but at the time, in 2000, they were the only company that offered a band for his specific headshape.Take care ( tnt@... )mom to Quinn, born 11/99, DOCband grad 10/00 for scaphocephalic headshape.>------- Original Message ------->From :
