Guest guest
For us, we had to change pajamas (even in the middle of the night) because our son was either too hot or too cold. We tried fleece pajamas, just a onsie, lightweight pajamas with feet, lightweight without feet, pants with a t-shirt onsie, etc. By night 3, our little one was back to sleeping through the night. He wore lightweight pajamas with feet so they were long sleeve top and pants. He was 7.5 months when he got his band. He was banded Feb.- April. At 4 1/2 months, could she be teething, or anything else going on too? How is she during the day? If she seems happy with it, then I am guessing maybe it is a temperature thing or just trying to find her " comfort spot. " Does she have plagio or brachy? I've heard that babies with brachy sometimes take longer to adjust. Some people try memory foam (we didn't as it made me nervous). Hang in there...I promise it does get better. lisa 16 month old son (DOC graduate at 9.5 mos.) > > My 4 1/2 month old just got her DOCband and she was up all night > crying. Guest guest
She has plagio. She was sleeping pretty well (getting up once to eat) up until the night before she got the band on. She is very irritated all day also. She is only napping 45 minutes at a time and is taking a lot of work to keep happy. She is usually a very laid back baby that is happy to play alone in her bouncer. Today, she is fussing all day and won't sit anywhere for more than 2-3 minutes. What does the memory foam do? Does it go under their sheets? Thanks so much for the replies - I am so happy I found this group! Charu > > > > My 4 1/2 month old just got her DOCband and she was up all night > > crying. Guest guest
I would say either that spot is bothering her or she is teething and it may be a coincidence. Have them check the spot, but otherwise she will adjust after a few days. It si just like how some babies protest having a hat on. It does not hurt them they are just wondering why it is there. > > > > > > My 4 1/2 month old just got her DOCband and she was up all night > > > crying. Guest guest
You say that she was sleeping pretty well until the night before she got the band on? If that is the case, then I'm guessing something else may be bothering her. Is she okay during the hour off? Is she pulling her ears? or anything unusual? Hopefully, whatever is bothering her gets better real soon. It is so hard when they can't tell us what is bothering them. The memory foam acts as a cushion and just makes for a softer surface. Yes, it goes under the sheets. I've seen a lot of people get it from Target (twin size) and then cut it down to crib size. > > > > > > My 4 1/2 month old just got her DOCband and she was up all night > > > crying. Guest guest
Charu, Have you tried putting a layer of memory foam under her sheet on the mattress? It may make it a little more comfortable for her. Also, I wouldn't keep her in the helmet when she's trying to get it off. Yes, some babies do take longer to adjust, and then the timeline of wearing it full time should be adjusted, too. If it's bothering her, then, I'd say, take it a little slower and take it off when she doesn't want it. It will take her longer to start wearing it full-time, but, I think, if it's less traumatic for all, then it's better. I did it with my son, and kept the orthotist aware that we were " running behind the deadline " for full-time wearing. He was fine with it, he just wrote this info down, and that's it. Eventually, she'll adjust. Good luck! > > My 4 1/2 month old just got her DOCband and she was up all night > crying. Guest guest
If there are no red spots (ones that don't fade within the given time frame from CT), then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to follow the break-in schedule given by CT??? If you do vary her schedule, I'd run it past them first since the schedule is there based on their experience with correcting plagio. How did last night go? 16 month old son (DOC graduate at 9.5 mos.) > > > > My 4 1/2 month old just got her DOCband and she was up all night > > crying. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the replies. I actually messed up in my first post. She was sleeping great even the night before she got the band. Her bad nights started after the band. (sorry blame sleep deprivation!) She is a little better but not much. She is up 5-6 times a night the past few nights. She also is not smiling much during the day anymore. I gave her Tylenol one night in case the helmet was giving her a headache (just like the first time you get braces but it didn't make a difference. I miss my happy, smiling baby so much! We did put memory foam in her bed but it hasn't seemed to help yet. I am hoping for some improvement soon because its breaking my heart! We are supposed to be in our helmet for 6-8 weeks but I am crossing my fingers for 6 weeks Thank you so much for replying. You guys are such a supportive group! I am excited to be a part of this group of wonderful parents! Charu
