Hi Kim,

I don't know how helpful I'll be, but here it goes. We got the same

recomendation from our ped. I was totally overwhelmed, but did a

little research and had consultations with the same two places too. In

the end we went with Cranial tech for a couple of reasons. First and

foremost was customer service. I figured if I was going to have to

deal with these people for 3-4 months, I wanted to have a positive

experience and not dread it everytime. I had negative attitudes from

everyone that I talked to at Hanger, with the exception of the

orthodist (who was going on maternity leave the following week). I

couldn't even get a price quote from them regarding my insurance. I

called twice & they finally told me that they wouldn't call for a

couple of days, maybe the next week. Cranial tech has a person that

you speak to only about insurance. We spoke to & she was very

helpful, informative & understanding.

Secondly, Cranial tech was the first to be FDA approved and have been

in the business the longest. The bands are also the only thing that

they do in the office, so they are quick, efficient & really know their

stuff.

Finally, after reading a few negative reviews out here & seeing some

pooly fitting pictures of Hanger, we decided against them. I didn't

find very many negative comments about Cranial Tech.

The choice was a tough one for us. Cranial Tech is a 40 minute drive

vs. 5 minutes from Hanger. Also, the base price at Hanger was cheaper

(I don't know about with insurance. Like I said earlier, they wouldn't

help me with that). But, I think a lot of it depends on where you

are. We are in Aurora, IL & so far love Cranial Tech. Wyatt will have

been in his band one week tomorrow. Good luck to you & I hope this

helps!

Kim,

I'll add our two cents about Hanger and update everyone about our

situation at the same time. We were having terrible problems with a

helmet we got at a local facility (not well known) and just switched

to Hanger today. Our daughter just got fit today for a new helmet, so

I can't vouch for the quality of the helmet, but I can already say the

experience was 100% better. The orthotist was wonderful, seemed very

knowledgeable, helpful, and made the experinece very easy for our

daughter. From reading the posts, it does seem like experiences vary

from location to location, but based on admittedly only one visit,

we're very happy with Hanger so far - on the off chance you live in

Los Angeles area, we would recommend at least talking to Hanger in

Encino, CA.
