Guest guest
Ok, so I'm in the process of appealing UHC. I have a silly question. Is a DOC band considered a Brace? I read somewhere that according to the FDA, a DOC band is considered a class II neurology device. Or am I having wishful thinking and they are considered a brace. I'm trying to get around my so called policy exclusion. "Braces that straighten or change the shape of a body part are orthotic devices and are excluded from coverage." Thanks for your help ladies Lorie Mom to Spencer and Alizabeth 11mo Spencer- Left Plagio-Doc Band Grad- 9/07-12/07 Glendale,AZ United Healthcare> > > Does anybody have UnitedHealthcare. Guest guest
According to my policy with UHC, it is considered an orthotic that is used to change or reshape a body part. I thought it could be considered durable medical equipment, but it is not. Should we move forward with banding, we will pay out of pocket and file a claim. Once denied, I will appeal, but do not have my hopes up of any reimbursement and am not letting this be a deciding factor for us in banding or not banding. I will let you know if I find out anything else from insurance or have any luck. United Healthcare> > > Does anybody have UnitedHealthcare.
