That said, I can understand your reluctance to use a credit card online. What I have done to make my life easier, is I only use online stores with established reputations and secure sites. I think you could also contact your credit card company to find out what their policies are regarding internet purchases. My husband has a card that we use for our business and they will not authorize any online charges to his card before they contact him personally, by telephone at his office, to verify the purchase. Maybe this kind of arrangement will help you?? Good luck, M

Guest guest
For those of you that order a lot of your products on-line, do you feel safe using the credit cards. I really hate using my cc on the internet but I have no-where to buy most of these products. How do you coordinate this with your regular grocery bill. I don't like to have a regular grocery bill on top of a credit card bill. Any suggestions/ -- Nacogdoches, Texas mom of Caleb (2 in March) allergic to wheat, barley, rye, oats, peanuts, soy, corn, green peas and beans, oranges, potatoes, chicken and intollerance to milk and everything that grows here in East Texas Corley age 41/2 with allergies to dust mites, mold, and cats --

I don't like to have a >regular grocery bill on top of a credit card bill. Any suggestions/ Couple of things you should watch out for. 1. Never EVER send credit card information by email. Email is completely insecure. 2. If you have doubts or questions about a site's security, look for security information on the site (in a FAQ or something similar) or call the company. 3. Look for a site (like ours) which will let you place an order without entering credit card information. Some sites will not be able to do this as credit cards are processed at the time of the order, rather than when the order ships. If you leave out the credit card info on our site, some one will call you...and you can talk to a real person! 4. Always deal with reputable sites that have a reputation and a name (this list and others are good places to find out just who is who.) 5. Find out what company policy is in regards to shipping, replacement/refunds etc. 6. Most credit card companies have some built in protection from online fraud. Ask your card co. 7. Get a card with the lowest possible limit and only use that one for online transactions. That way, in the worst case, your exposure is limited. (some might find that this works well if you are really close to to the upper end of your limit too .... 8. Look for the lock icon on you browser. NOTE: this doesn't always show the correct information if a site uses frames (ours does and the lock doesn't show up but the site IS secure) The best way to check if a page is secure is to do the following: If you are using Netscape you can " right click " on the frame where you enter personal info and " open frame in new window " this will load the frame full screen and you will see the lock in the status bar and can check the security information with the " security " button on the toolbar. If you are using IExplorer, you can " right click " on the frame where you enter personal info and go to properties, click on " certificates " to view the security information. Look for Verisign or RSA Certificates (there are a couple of others but I can't remember them off the top of my head.) 9. Ensure that you have the latest version of your internet browse and that you have " 128 bit encryption " installed. For Internet Explorer the latest version is 5.0 and encryption information is located in HELP>>>ABOUT. For Netscape Communicator the latest version is 4.7.
