Guest guest
Hey Gang! It's me again. Well, we went to a pediatric allergist yesterday in Tyler and we came home with more problems. We found out that he is allergic to chicken, potatoes, oranges and every thing that grows in East Texas (trees, flowers, ragweed, etc.)as well as every bean and pea. (There goes my garden!)He said we could have corn and potatoes every 72 hours. The only problem is I cook with potato flour and starch. SO now what do I do. Caleb has gained four pounds. That made me so thrilled. However, the allergist was very concerned about him and his weight. I told him he would be thrilled if he only knew what we have been through and how far we have come. He stated that children at Caleb's age need 3 main things: protein, calcium and calories. I am a little concerned about this. When you can't eat anything, how do you get protein, calcium and calories. I was dealing with a nutrionist in Houston who has told me that the gi doctor says I only need to avoid wheat after he told ME that we needed to avoid all allergens. I don't understand these crazy people. The pedi allergist I saw yesterday said stay away from all. Sunday afternnon after church we ate out and caleb had green beans and chicken. Sunday afternoon and Monday morning he was totally conjested and coughing. I guess the chicken and green beans were the cause. The pedi allergist said that food allergiest can and will cause mucous and phelgm to produce and cause problems. ANyway, I have many questions, please help if you can. I want to say thanks ahead of time for your help!!!! *What can I do for potatoes? *What can I give him to drink that is soothing. I think all the juice is getting to him. *When I put french fries in the oven to bake they turn green. YUK!! why? The frying everytime is a pain. *What all does the leguem family consist of? *How bad do allergies have to be to need a braclet. It seems the more I keep caleb off his allergens, when he accidently gets something, the reactions are worse. *Can kids be allergic to grapes? Are grapes and rasins the same? He throw-up rasins immediatley. *Any suggestions on how to get an allergy group together? Thanks again for everything!!! -- Nacogdoches, Texas mom of Caleb (2 in March) allergic to wheat, barley, rye, oats, peanuts, soy, corn, egg whites, green peas and beans and intollerance to milk Corley age 41/2 with allergies to dust mites, mold, and cats --
