Guest guest
I have done a urine sample with Great Plains Lab and it suggests that my son has increased peptides in his urine for casein and gluten but it also showed him to have an increase in yeast. Presently, I have him on Nystatin and his behavior has changed for the worse. He has been on it for almost a week now. My son was diagnosed when he was almost two and at that point we were just objects in a room. I immediately reduced his casein and he has been on a reduced casein diet for over a year. I also started him on SuperNuthera, DMG, Calcium, and Enyme Aid. My son now has much better eye contact. He plays with his brother and sister and he laughs all the time when we play with him. He has no speech but we have just recently heard him say cookie, all done, and hug. I am not sure if it was the reduction of casein in his diet or the supplements but there has been a marked improvement in a year. My big problem now is that my son has reduced his diet to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bologna sandwiches and Domino's pizza. (He will only eat Dominos!) He goes from eating Peanut butter sandwiches 7 days a week 3 times a day to then only wanting pizza 3 times a day. (Pizza is the only source of casein he gets.) He also craves teddy graham cookies and Gerber Graduates Veggie Crackers. Most of the time he screams because cookies are the only thing he wants to eat. I have only given him these cookies and crackers because they are the lowest in sugar I can get him to eat. My big problem is that I have tried all sorts of different GF/CF foods but he now refuses to try anything new. I have messed around with his diet so much and now he will go days without eating if I am trying to get him to eat something new. If only I could get him on a gluten free bread (he hates all the pre packed frozen ones), and some gf/cf cookies that look and taste like teddy grahams I would be on my way. I am desperate for help. I have been trying and then giving up I am ashamed to say. I just don't know which way to go. Should I start with a gf/cf diet or should I start him on a yeast free/sugar free diet. How do Phenols fit into this issue? He seems to crave foods high in phenols like tomatoes (pizza sause and peanut butter). One thing I know for sure, is that my son cannot tolerate any friut juices, fruit (especially cantaloupe). He definately can't handle Cherrios but can handle Honeycombs better. I just don't quiet understand any of the connections. Help! What I am going to feed him? Thanks for listening. I am sorry I have rambled on so much. I greatly appreciate any advise.
