I don't know, but in the chewable heartworm pills for dogs, you are not to cut

them in half and share them. They say that they medication is placed in the

middle and it is not the exact same amount on both sides.

This is just what I have always been told. Unscored pills, means that you are

not to break them in half. Scored pills means that the medication is equally

distributed on both sides of the pill. That is why some are scored and some are

not.

Anyone else know of this?

That makes no sense. If they have a batch of liquid which is them poured into

molds to form pills it MUST be uniform to make all the pills uniform as they

certainly do not make a separate batch for each pill. Same thing if they

compress powder into capsules or pills it must be uniform to begin with to pass

uniformity codes.

I suspect these are made very differently than most pills. These are probably

formed first and the medication injected into them. Of course some of these

things are just propaganda to keep people buying the smaller more costly sizes

too. I used to hear about Frontline " settling " and shouldn't be split into

smaller dosages but I have been doing it for 6 years with no problems and it

works the same for all of the dogs I use it on.

Human pills are guaranteed to be of a certain uniformity but capsules might well

be filled differently, though they pretty much stopped doing that with the abuse

of such drugs as Darvon which used to have a killer BALL in the middle of it

that druggies would use to get high without the mellowing filler around it.

Don't ask me how I know these things.... LOL
