Guest guest
A loose helmet will work more passively... what kind of band is it? I know sometimes if the band is loose some orthos will put in padding to fill in the space where there is a gap but this is not recommended. Let us know what the ortho says on Monday. Hi everyone, I was wondering if it is normal for s helmet to be pretty loose still? He has been in it since March 4th, and it slides forward and back on his forhead. When he is lying in my arms, I can see a big gap between the top of his helmet and his head, and some on the side. If I move his helmet back off his forhead a little, the gap gets smaller. I just dont see how it can restrict growth if its loose and moves around (not side to side, just forward towards eyes and back)... Any thoughts? Pat from Orthotics at Childrens didnt seem to think it was an issue last week. He gets checked again Monday. Im not sure what they can do if its loose and not supposed to be. But maybe it is still supposed to be?? Thanks! Get the MapQuest Toolbar, Maps, Traffic, Directions More!
Guest guest
Yeah, in a sense it's still providing a rounded cushion so that his head can't find a flat spot to lay on anymore. My daughter's Hanger helmet was slipping (in her case it was rotating instead of moving back and forth) so I had the ortho take a look and she put some padding in it, saying it was too big. That helped a lot. She just had her 4 week checkup this week and shaved 7 ml off her measurements already, even with at least half that time in an ill-fitting helmet. So I think it can continue to work if it's too big, but it doesn't seem ideal. And for the money you (or hopefully your insurance) are paying, you should get exactly the right thing, in my opinion. -Meredith -mom to Lily, 10 months old, 1 month in helmet so far > > A loose helmet will work more passively... what kind of band is it?? > I know sometimes if the band is loose some orthos will put in padding to fill in the space where there is a gap but this is not recommended.? > > Let us know what the ortho says on Monday. > > > ?Jen and Luli - 28 months > Left tort - Right Plagio - Hanger Band Grad - CA > http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/j/jens5th/ > > > Loose helmet?? > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > I was wondering if it is normal for s helmet to be pretty loose > still?
