Hi Donna!

I was dx with PBC last fall. My liver was so large I could feel it sticking out

from under my ribcage. My liver counts were high, I was itching just horribly.

My hep dx my with PBC and did a liver biopsy. The biopsy was inconclusive. He

still kept PBC as a dx.

I was on the PBCers group for a quite awhile. Now I am not so sure that PBC is

the right dx. I quit drinking diet coke and aspartame, artificial sweeteners,

etc. over a month ago. Within a week, I could no longer feel my liver. I saw

my hep and he was shocked too. He couldn't feel it either.

I am starting to think now that maybe pbc wasn't my problem. I am convinced

that the aspartame in the diet coke-I drank it for 22 years, more than 6 cans a

day-was the culprit, along with the celiacs. I cannot tell you how much better

I feel since quitting d.coke. I have not had anything to drink, besides one

glass of iced tea, in over a month, except water.

Apparantly, a doctor in San Diego has found a connection between myositis-the

muscle disease I have and celiacs. Also, my son is austistic and there is also

a connection to celiac there. I believe now that all my problems have been

related to celiacs. I have been sick my whole life with various things.

Thanks for the info.

My best,

Zanna
