Guest guest
Hi ! Hopefully others will reply, but you may be right. The Danmar helmet is a passive helmet which relies on growth of the baby only. It is typically used for young babies (under 6 months) from what I understand. Did you read past posts on this helmet? You could look in the data base for someone specifically to ask. If it were me, I would definitely go in for one of the CT free evaluations. You never know what they will say. Bring the helmet with you, of course. Are they close by? It certainly can't hurt anything! Good luck to you. I know there are so many questions. - Boise, ID > > Hello All, > I have a very important question. My son is in a Danmar helmut for > brachy, which he has had for one month. He is 8 mos old. Guest guest
--, Thanks so much for replying. I may go see CT for a free consult. I am just concerned that they will push whatever band or helmet they use for the profit. Thanks for your reply. - In Plagiocephaly , " therices2000 " <rices@...> wrote: > > Hi ! > > Hopefully others will reply, but you may be right. Guest guest
Hi, I don't know that much about danmar, but my daughter had severe brachy (100% CI) and she needed to wear her band for 5 mo (age 5 to 10 mo). I would be worried that it would take even longer with a passive helmet, so depending on severity of your son, I would consider switching to an active band. However CT doesn't have many locations, and travel can be so expensive, I know it isn't always an option. We used a starband and the ortho was local. it worked great for us. take care. -christine mom to sydney/ 10.5 mo/ starband grad 10-06 > > Hello All, > I have a very important question. Guest guest
, Thanks for the reply. CT is close by and I am calling them in the morning. I am so upset because no one ever informed me about passive vs active helmets. So unfortunately I fear my son is in the wrong helmet. As far as how severe, his brachy is, I have no idea because no one has ever told me, and until now I never even knew to ask. All of this info is new to me. I am so grateful for this site and the replies I have received. Wish us luck. & -- In Plagiocephaly , " christineashok " <christineashok@...> wrote: > > Hi, > I don't know that much about danmar, but my daughter had severe brachy > (100% CI) and she needed to wear her band for 5 mo (age 5 to 10 mo). Guest guest
Hi , my daughter's photo is in the photo section under Our Plagio Babies S/ Sydney M - this link should work: http://health.ph./group/Plagiocephaly/photos/browse/e3ac?b=34 & m=\ t & o=0 She was considered severe. Also there is a severity assessment on the CT web site: http://cranialtech.com/medicalinfo/identifyplagio.html The helment you have may be fine, but it is good to get a second opinion. -christine mom to sydney / 10 mo/ starband grad 10-06 > > , > Thanks for the reply. Guest guest
I just wanted to give an update on this... I posted the same message on the other plagio board as well... We have had a very good experience so far. Although I originally thought the Danmar Helmet was not a passive helmet and since found out it was, we have had great correction in a very short time. My son got his helmet on 12/4/06 and just went for his first adjustment on 1/5/07 and he went from 9.5 mm of asymmetry down to 0 mm of asymmetry!!!! It was a 100% correction in one month!!! I will clarify that his 9.5 mm of asymmetry was originally measured on 11/9/06. We aggressively repositioned him until we actually received the helmet. So there is a possibility he had some correction prior to getting his helmet. Either way, we are so happy with the results so far!!! I lost so much sleep over making the decision to get a helmet or not. I can't even believe how much it has not been a big deal. I love looking at my son in his helmet!!! He has adjusted so great and has never acted any different with it on or off. The biggest problem for us has always been taking it on and off because I think it pulls his hair... From what I've read on this site, there isn't much out there regarding a passive helmet so I just wanted to share my story... : ) Bradley (8 months, Danmar Helmet 12/4/06 - ???)
