Guest guest
From someone on the lowdosenaltrexone group for those of you using LDN. I have no idea of this guy's background or training but it is worth a read and possibly trying if you don't think LDN is doing anything much for you. Hi all you folks taking LDN for various reasons, If it is working for you -- awesome. If it isn't you might consider experimenting with the times you take it. The mechanism of action is a temporary blockade of endorphin/opiod receptors at a specific time (early morning hours, when endorphin production is supposed to occur, causing the body to, in the words of Jay Leno, make more (endorphins). Given genetic variation and induced changes which may occur from lifestyle (maybe you are a night owl, work night shifts, or God help you, rotating shifts, etc...) your own periods of (peak) endorphin production may be shifted from these early hours of the day. I have no idea what range of variation there could be from the norm or if there even is such a thing, so the only way you could know would be through experimentation with when you take the LDN. You may try taking it one, two or more hours earlier, or stay up later to take it. Hopefully whoever is prescribing LDN is knowledgible enough to guide you in how to take it. Any of you, lucky enough to have blood tests for endorphin levels, especially [met5]enkephalin levels for cancer patients, will know if your getting the results of the LDN (these tests are very expensive and probably aren't done for most patients in normal med labs). If not, I'd advise you you speak with your Doc. or even Dr. Bihari, since he knows most about LDN,. Don't get discouraged with your results, LDN is about as close to cutting edge tech. as you can get, w/o the benefit of a huge research grant and a high tech. lab. Since it is as safe a drug as anything out there it can't hurt to mix things up a bit. Good Luck to all, Hans
