Getting Pregnant

Hi!

I'm new to the group and hoping to get feedback and learn things from

other women who have been where I am. I tried getting pregnant

through donor insemination a few years back, when I weighed around

300 pounds. Now I'm down to 180 and 8 months post-op. For the past

several years I've been on birth control pills just to regulate my

body because I had such heavy, horrible bleeding cycles. I've read

that is common with overweight women. Both my mother and sister were

very fertile women. I tried for only 5 months, and on Clomid, but

then the doctors wanted to run a bunch more tests, etc. and my life

was going through a change, so I stopped trying. Now I'm ready to try

again and hopeful that my infertility was more weight-related than

anything. Has anyone been through this????

Hi, Demrie

I conceived my daughter via donor insemination. I think I was about

220 pounds at the time. It took 7 tries, and he put me on clomid

after the first 3 tries. My period always had been regular until

after the pregnancy. I breastfed for 10 months, but didn't get a

period until about 14 months after the birth. They were sporadic,

too. Probably because I gained so much weight. So I am hopeful that

as I get slimmer, my periods will return to normal. I hope you find

yourself more fertile! Good luck!
