If the red spot fades after an hour than it should be fine.

Any longer than that then you should go in for an adjustment. After we

had been in our band for a while and I felt comfortable with it if had little

spots (like the size of a pencil eraser) I would just take a nail file and file

the foam slightly and that would do the trick. If it was any larger then

I went in for an adjustment.

Subject: [sPAM] Newbie...New Advice

Hello:

New to the board. I'm sorry if this question has been asked before...

My son, Noah (5 1/2 months) received his helmet (STARband) last

Tuesday. Friday was the first day that he wore it for the whole 23

hours. I think I'm the one that is more bothered - he seems to be fine

(maybe a little sweaty). So here is my question - I've notice for the

past two days that he has a little red spot on the lower right side of

his head. It appears to be getting irritated - but lessen when the

helmet is off (bath-time or for a feeding). Does this mean he needs

to be checked out again (our follow up appointment is not until

Friday) or is this part of the course - his scalp adjusting to the helmet?

My son had a DOC band, I think it is the same way as the starband (23 one 1 hour off). I was told that if any red spots took over and hour to go away, I should call Cranial Tech and let them know. The red spots are the skins way of getting used to the band. My son had the same problem, but had some red spots that took over and hour to go away. I took him back into CT and they made some adjustments on the band.

Best of Luck
