Guest guest
I have posted before that I don't think the helmet is helping my now 10 month old daughter as much as we were hoping for. But she was scanned again last week and I was wondering what everybody thought of the results and how they compared to other babies' results halfway thru the process. She had been in the helmet 8 weeks when the ortho scanned her again. Her head had grown 9mm during that time and she went from 10mm to 7mm asymmetrie. I am glad that she is improving, but it still doesn't seem like it's going very good. She only has 8mm left to grow before she outgrows the helmet and judging by how much she has improved so far, it would get her to about 5mm asymmetrie once she is done. I guess after reading about all of the babies who improved by 10- 13mm, I didn't expect her to only improve by around 5mm. She also has facial asymmetries that have so far only improved by 1mm (from 7mm down to 6mm). Is this a 'normal' result halfway thru the process? We are VERY compliant with the 23 hour wearing schedule. I guess I don't understand why some babies improve more than others since the helmets work the same way. Shouldn't they all have 'round' heads once they are done??
Guest guest
Which helmet is your daughter wearing and which place are you using? > > I have posted before that I don't think the helmet is helping my now > 10 month old daughter as much as we were hoping for. Guest guest
I've wondered the same thing...my son started at 8mm and graduated with 3mm assymetry. He wore the band for 8 weeks and we were told he outgrew it. I'm not sure what the half-way numbers were but I would think with 9mm of growth you should have seen more improvement but I'm not sure. Hopefully, others know. > > I have posted before that I don't think the helmet is helping my now > 10 month old daughter as much as we were hoping for. Guest guest
My son started with 20mm and finished his first band at 9mm. We are starting a second band on the 10th. He is 10.5 months old and our therapist said she expects him to wear it for 12 weeks (he also wore the first for 12). She thinks he will improve to a 4 or 5. They are not expecting his head to be " perfect " when he graduates, but he will have a great deal of improvement.
