Generic zyrtec with least amount of illegals?

I saw my allergist for the first time today, and he did a scratch test for a

crapload of environmental allergies, as well as some nuts due to my recent bad

reaction to cashew butter.

I'm basically allergic to anything that grows. You name a grass, weed, or tree,

and I probably have a big itchy welt on my back to go along with it. My

allergist recommended I start getting weekly allergy shots. But until then, I

have to take a generic zyrtec. Does anybody take this? I see that several stores

carry a housebrand of this, but was wondering if anyone knew which one has the

least amount of illegals in it (compounding is not an option financially). And

lucky me, I also get a nosespray, eye drops, and nasal rinse.

And thanks to the person who told about their daughter having OAS (oral allergy

syndrome). As it turns out, I have that to. I'm not really allergic to bananas

(hurray!), my body just confuses it with all the ragweeds I'm allergic to.

The only foods we got into today were the bananas, cashew, walnut, pecan, and

almond. The cashew didn't surprise me of course, nor did the walnut (my tongue

felt a little funny after sampling 1/2 tbsp of walnut butter recently). Luckily,

my allergist said I could go ahead and keep eating the almond butter, but to

avoid the rest.

i'm an allergic mess too but take comp claritin daily as they couldn't compound

zyrtec - i was told to hold off on testing etc for now but since youi have

already you MAY want to try adding quercetin I take it 2/day and the comp clar

-seems to be keeping ok :-) don't know if an allergist woud be open to nat

stuff???

good luck

I can't afford Claritin even without it being compounded ;). But that's okay,

the generic Zyrtec will probably only be 3 months or so. It will be a month

before I can start getting the allergy shots, and they have to slowly ramp up

the dose, so it will be a little while before they're effective.

I don't know if my allergist is open to natural remedies. I'm going to take a

wild guess and say probably not. However, I do eat raw local honey, and that has

made a difference. My nose and throat itching are nearly non-existent now, where

in the past, I felt like gouging them out. The honey has also helped with my

ears, they don't get plugged near as much as they used to.
