Hi Jodi, sounds like you're coming along fine. The acupuncture will help a great deal with getting off the prednisone. It helped me get off a 6 year prednisone habit that I couldn't break in less than 6 weeks. Acupuncture is great stuff!! You're doing all the right things.

Hi everyone,After experiencing a meltdown yesterday (all of this just became toooverwhelming to deal with) I finally got my couch cain so I can hoist myself inand off the couch (can't sleep in bed but there are some problems withorganizing a rail/pole so my brother prioritized the couch) WHAT A DIFFERENCE!I will say it again I SHOULD OF LISTENED TO MARILYN!I am feeling so much better this morning. Needed half the pain meds I normallydo at night and I got much more sleep too. It is always hard for me to sleepwhen I am on Prednisone but this extra factor of when I need to wake up at nightbeing so strenuous which led to pain- the fact it was minimized makes me feelvery good about today.I saw my GI yesterday and he thinks a big part of the problem is being onsteroids as he feels it can enable scar tissue formation. He felt in thebegining of the week he just could not take me off of it

considering how awfulmy labs were. But it was due to so many IV fluids. The bowel obstruction didnot help the situation but I was getting better pre-surgery.So I need to taper relatively quickly and with the help of some integrativemethods I hope it goes over smoothly. I am also doing acupuncture this morningwhich should help everything too.If the pain doesn't start getting much better next week and the belly distensioncontinues I will need an MRI to look at the anostomies. But since my STAT bloodwork in my GI's office was so good comparing to Monday. THEY SHOT UP!! He isvery confident the Prednisone is playing a major role also in my anxiety levels. What a difference a good night sleep makes. Thanks everyone for kind support I got so many off list emails with differentphilosophies on life from all walks of life. One of the reasons it was somoving reading it because the common thread is

the SCD and all of us working toget better.Jodi
