Guest guest
Hi there, My doctor prescibed Nystatin for me but when I went to the pharmacy I found out that all antifungals in New Zealand contain either sucrose, starch or lactose. Is Nystatin and other antifungals free of these ingredients in other parts of the world? I am going to contact my doctor again to find out if I can get an IV antifungal. The name the pharmacy gave me for this is Amphotericin.Has anyone had this before and if so what was your experience with it? Many thanks, Carmel NZ Sucrase Isomaltase Deficiency Fructose Malabsorption SCD 24.03.
Guest guest
my son used to get this in iv form during neutropenia ( infections during chemo) ...the parents on ward 3b (kids chemo) called it "shake n bake" because it would cause convulsions then a huge fever spike ...it did work--after a couple days it would break the infection ...but truly I would think of it as a "last resort"!! I would try compounded nystatin or diflucan or grapefruit seed extract/oregano etc before such "nuclear warfare" ...just my opinion mind you!! gisele
