Guest guest
My daughter who is now almost 9 months old has been wearing her helmet for more than 6 weeks now and while we have been seeing some results, they are not as significant as we were hoping. Her head is rounding out some, but the flat spot is still clearly visible. Also, she has facial assymetries and I can't see any improvement in that so far. Especially her ears are still off by a lot and her cheeks are clearly different. She started out 10 mm assymetrie. She hasn't been scanned since then so I don't know if that number has gone down, but when they measure her head, the ortho always says that she is exactly on track and on the growth curve (which to me means that her head is growing, but her plagio is not getting much better). I have been reading a lot of posts about early improvements, babies who have the most improvement within the first few weeks or even days spent in the helmet. Has anybody seen a lot of improvement towards the end? She still has about 2 months left before she'll outgrow the helmet. We are very compliant with the wearing schedule so that she has the full benefit of the helmet and I don't know of anything else I could do to make sure she gets the best results. I guess, I am getting a little worried that the helmet is not really helping her.
Guest guest
Has she had a growth spurt lately? Maybe she's due for one and you could see a big change then. If she's only been gradually growing, the changes might be too small to see. I would urge you to stay positive, you still have 2 months left and your baby is still growing at a pretty rapid pace. Please don't get discouraged. My son doesn't even have his band yet and he's 17 months old, so I'm trying to stay as positive as I can that we'll see at least some results. Just think about her last growth spurt and if you think she's ready for another one coming up. Is she getting two small for some of her clothes? Is she eating more than usual? I think my son had one around 9 or 10 months old. I would definitely give it more time before becoming too discouraged. Good luck! And keep us posted! in Raleigh Jake-17m DocBand 2/11/08 > > My daughter who is now almost 9 months old has been wearing her > helmet for more than 6 weeks now and while we have been seeing some > results, they are not as significant as we were hoping.
