Guest guest
HI! My daughter has been in her DOC Band for about a month (give or take a few days off due to early red spot and skin breakdown). I keep seeing all the conversation about measurements. I asked at our last appointment what were my daughter's measurements and what they meant, and was told that the measurements are more for the insurance company's purposes, at least in our case, and that the most meaningful assessment is the visual. They said that my daughter's plagio is largely in the back lower right side and not really where they measure. She showed me the photos, which clearly looked like like we would want to be working on this. But I am confused, since so many here are very well versed in the numbers, and I like to know as much as possible. When the original measurements were taken, we all had colds, plus my daughter had just been diagnosed with a growth disorder, which I was madly researching. (And I can converse quite intelligently about the technicalities of THAT!) This seemed less demanding of my full mental attention at the time, and mostly hit me emotionally. I think they did talk about the measurements (different people), and all I recall was a magic number of 12, that meant our insurance would cover her band. I'm just wondering if any of you experienced moms and dads can shed any light on this. I was a bit taken aback at the answer. I think the person I asked, while having at least 4 years of experience, and who was highly and personally recommended by our PT, was new to CT, and maybe she just wanted to be cautious about what she said. I will ask again. Any thoughts about good questions to ask? Also, I was wondering if babies that have growth disorders -- my 10 and 1/2 month old is just hovering ALMOST at 10 pounds --need more time in the band. They are seeing us every week, and doing adjustments -- partly due to her sensitive skin, and they say her head is growing. I wonder if is more molding, because her skull is..thinner (?) due to her slow growth. They mentioned something about the thinness. They said she should only be in it about 2 and 1/2 months. But I'm so used to her growing so unusually slowly, I can hardly believe it. Does anyone know about THAT? TIA! Diane
Guest guest
We were told the same exact thing with regards to measurements. Our insurance didn't require the measurements and CT was not going to take measurements but I requested them. The measurements don't give the " whole picture. " I have a friend thats baby was a very slow grower (and still is at 21 months). They ran several different tests and all came back okay. Has your daughter had a bunch of tests with any answers? Good luck. > > HI! > > My daughter has been in her DOC Band for about a month (give or take a few days off due > to early red spot and skin breakdown).
