Guest guest
It has been a while since I visited this site. It has been an extremely tough year outside of my son's problems. Has anyone had their child experience low body temperatures during sleep? In the last two weeks Ian has awaken cold three times. His body temp under the arm has been between 94.7 and 95.5. The first time it happened we brought him to the hospital and rectaly he registered a 96.5 temp. Not only that he is usually disoriented, fussy and sweaty. It has taken 3 to 7 hours for his temp to come back to normal with him laying on me with blankets over us both. I love my pediatrition. She has been honest about what puzzles her and has referred us to specialists when she is stumped. She is stumped. She had us go to emergency the first time but that was a joke. I have found, unfortunately, that I am encountering more and more doctors that don't want to touch Ian because he has not been specifically diagnosed with RSS or any other syndrome. (The RSS testing is being done now and will hopefully be back in July). Has this occurred with anyone else's child?
Guest guest
Hi is it Robin? I don't have any answers for you, but I have to say that my 9 1/2 year old is the same way. In fact SO AM I. I sleep with 3 blankets (even on the hottest summer night) and so does my son. We are both always COLD. I never gave it a thought about me or him. I just figured it was because I have low blood pressure (assuming that means poor circulation) and Adam? Well a part from me, and a part because he has no fat on him. I wake up most nights with all the blankets on but my teeth are just chattering. It's an awful feeling, I am so cold. I end up kind of wiggling in bed to warm up and I just actually make my teeth chatter as a way of warming up. If you find out anything I'd be interested. I'll keep that in mind (I've never mentioned it to the doctors) and ask next time I'm at the doc's. Oh as well I wake up in the morning drenched in sweat. Go figure. Guest guest
Debby, Have you ever had your thyroid function checked? I think it might also regulate body temp... In fact, here is a link to my yahoo search on thyroid and cold - #3 says, 'She comments that she is always cold, even in the summer. She has a positive family history for thyroid problems, but does not know the details Return to Menu. ... http://www.hsc.missouri.edu/~daveg/thyroid/thy_dis.html ' The link for the search is http://google.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=thyroid+and+cold&hc=0&hs=0 Inga At 08:02 PM 6/13/2002 -0400, you wrote: > > Hi is it Robin? > I don't have any answers for you, but I have to say that my 9 1/2 year old > is the same way. > In fact SO AM I. Guest guest
Hi Inga Good point! I had forgotten that. I spend so much of my life keeping track of Adam's various situations, that I forget my own. Yes my thyroid has been checked. It was deemed " fine " at the time, but I do have a goiter. I'm supposed to have my thyroid monitored each year. I'm not sure if it's part of the doc's blood work each year or not.....I always forget to ask her. But that cold, even in summer, has been going on for years and years (before I was even divorced) but the goiter was discovered a year or so after the divorce. Thanks for the input though, I should follow up on that again. Debby Low Body Temperature > > > > > > > It has been a while since I visited this site.
