It may very well not contain starch, but according to this website

http://www.konnyaku.com/e_data/konjac2.html , it is a polysaccharide

-- which is illegal. Sugar also doesn't have any starch in it but,

as we all know, is a big illegal.

I wish there were one resource where we could go to look up whether a

food is a mono-, di-, or poly-saccharide. If such a resource exists, I

haven't found it yet.

Hey group,

My mom found this " miracle noodle " online. It's made out of

konjac flour that is made from a plant and has no starch in it. I was

wondering if it was legal??? Has anyone tried this? It has been on tv and

other media for being an aid for people trying to lose weight. There is a

website...

www.miraclenoodle.com. The website seems very commercial to me so I

am wondering if it is legal. I had to do more research to figure out what

konjac flour was because it doesn't say on the website.

Thanks in advance.

PS: went to vegas this past weekend and totally blew the diet. getting

back on track. The first week of the diet is the worst!! It is soooo

hard! ahhh. ok, done whining.

It's glucomannen. It's not legal. I believe I've posted about it

before.

Remember though that most vegetables also have starch in them, see BTVC pg. 28.

It's a matter of amount however. Vegetables are mostly water by mass, whereas

things like rice and pasta are dry. Starch is of course a polysaccharide by

definition.

Has anybody actually ever tried these noodles and found no symptoms from it?

Its chemical structure suggests similarity to plant starches.

SCDers have tried the glucomannen and gotten fabulously sick from

it.

The carbohydrates in vegetables are in the context of the whole food.

This junk is purified polysaccharide. NOT LEGAL.

Ok good to know. I imagine if the carbohydrate was purified from vegetables, it

may not be legal.
